Ruggiero Goes “Into the Garden”
Designer, Joe Ruggiero, brings spring design theme to his showroom.
High Point, NC, APRIL 16, 2016 – Internationally acclaimed design authority, fabric and furniture designer, and HGTV host, Joe Ruggiero, unveils several new designs inspired by his personal California garden this April at the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, North Carolina.
While home décor authority Joe Ruggiero is known for traveling the globe in search of artistic inspirations, he has found some of his most thrilling discoveries in the formal garden retreat of his sprawling California home. It’s these flowers, ferns, trees and shrubs that have given rise to his latest collection of Sunbrella® fabrics – “Into the Garden”. “The garden is where you can find reflective and inspirational moments,” Ruggiero said. “Artisans and craftsmen throughout history have been inspired by the natural beauty of the world close at hand, and our newest Sunbrella® fabrics recognize that some of the most creative ideas are right in front of us if only we pay attention.”
New “Into the Garden” patterns, along with new colors for two existing patterns, will comprise Ruggiero’s signature offerings for the Sunbrella® brand during High Point. The lead pattern in the new collection is Rosie, a chintz-inspired floral look that is in the midst of resurgence on fashion runways. Inspired by the multitude of rose bushes that thrive in Ruggiero’s garden, Rosie has a photo-realistic look achieved by using varying levels of pixilation to make the fabric’s pattern look more photographic; available in the color Oyster.
Ruggiero focuses on trees in the garden with the pattern Bark, a textured, striped interpretation of tree bark that pairs perfectly with Woven, a design with the detailed look of a hand-loomed fabric. Bark is available in Dove and Woven is available in Wren, which is one of the top selling colors in Ruggiero’s line of fabrics.
Harris features the hand and texture of fine Scottish tweed and was inspired by the brick herringbone walkways in Ruggiero’s garden. An exclusive to The MT Company this season, Harris is available in Salt, Parchment and Stone. “Neutrals with a grey-brown influence continue to be popular in home furnishings and fashion. Our Stone colorway highlights that hue in a refined, elegant way that is ideal for a variety of furniture,” Ruggiero said.
In addition to the new “Into the Garden” fabric designs, Ruggiero is introducing the pattern Visions, which first debuted at June Showtime, in the color Wren.
“The fabrics in my newest Sunbrella collection are close to my heart because they were inspired by the garden at my home in California.” Ruggiero said. “Special detail and attention went into each of these designs, and I hope the sense of peace and calm that I have always found in my garden is communicated through this collection.”
To add to his signature upholstery collection for The MT Company, Ruggiero will introduce the Joie sofa. This Joe Ruggiero modernist design draws from the classic, clean lines of American Architecture, popular in the 70s. “I believe this new addition to the line will complement all of our transitional designs.” Ruggiero also added, “The hands of our American craftspeople continue to create products that we are proud of and express the talents of generations of furniture makers.”
Ruggiero will be showcasing his new fabrics & furniture in The MT Company’s new showroom located on the second floor of 311 N. Hamilton Street in High Point.
